Sometimes I’m in a situation where others are around and I don’t want to have my hand floating in the air. Eyes closed is fine.

I would like to suggest doing both to see what results you get. Cheers

Very good advice, Ben! Would love to hear from @JoAnne about results with both.
I think I saw in an email a month or two ago that you don’t have to let your hand float. I’ve done it both ways (very responsive in the hypnotizability test) and find that getting the floating feeling in my body is more important that having my hand float.
TL;DR - No. ![]()
I have chronic fatigue so lifting my hand requires me to exert more strength which in turn increases my stress, sort of defeats the purpose of trying to calm my nerves, sort I don’t bother with the raising the hand thing. Anyway from all your replies it seems that this is not a necessary part of the session.
